Largest Military Aircraft Storage Facility
Documentary about the “The Boneyard” which houses more than 4400 aircraft, making it the largest aircraft storage facility in the world. Otherwise known as the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), The Boneyard is an aircraft and maintenance facility located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Tucson was chosen as the AMARG site because of low humidity, infrequent rainfall, alkaline soil and high altitude, reducing rust and corrosion. The hard soil makes it possible to move aircraft around without having to pave the storage areas
