Every Saturday, Air Europe flight AE54 from Manchester empties 130 passengers at Alicante Airport in Spain. Nearly all the travellers are bound for a summer holiday in Benidorm, whose sun, sand and sangria will weave its magic spell for 14 days, until flight AE55 whisks them back again to the ‘dark, satanic mills’ of Manchester and another year.
This observational documentary follows a handful of Brits abroad, as they navigate springy hotel beds, sunlounger etiquette, alien foodstuff, the relentless heat, the wild nightlife, and each other. We also get a glimpse into the lives of the holiday reps whose job it is to tend to their every need, and get them home in one piece.
